In distributed systems, low-level architectural issues can profoundly influence
application design and high-level issues such as fault-tolerance. There is also
a need for integration of the many aspects of systems into coherent wholes.
The OLDA-III workshop deliberately provides a vertical slice through the
problem domain. The principal goal of the workshop is to
bring together developers and researchers from a variety of communities:
application builders; software engineering methodologists; system builders;
and researchers investigating very low level issues.
OLDA-III revisits the issues addressed in OLDA-II, at OOPSLA'92, and extends
the range to include advances in software architecture, middleware layers,
grid computing, modern languages, objects in pervasive systems, seamfull
distributed computing and more formal developments.
The workshop will include two panels: "languages then and now" (a reprise of
the OLDA-II language issues panel) and "middleware now and in the future".
